The course was very helpful for me, knowing how to communicate with customers. Learning to understand their needs, using positive body language and, its meaning. Presenting your self positively to your customers. It will go a long way with them

Professionalism: Sales, Customer Service, & Communication Course
As this course mainly dealt with professionalism. I have attached a photo of an inspection related item to discuss. The material surrounding the kitchen sink appeared rotten, most likely due to water damage. While this particular area of damage would be considered a cosmetic trim, it is still important to bring this damage to your client’s attention and inform them of the likely cause(s).

Library Article: A Letter Explaining Your InterNACHI Home Inspector Certification
This article details a letter idea to help communicate your credentials earned through InterNACHI to an interested party in a professional manner. It provides language whether you are required to be licensed in your state or not. In my opinion, it is an excellent idea to have such a letter handy when approaching Realtors or potential clients. Our websites may be full of this information, but a computer/tablet/smartphone is not always available or a feasible option in certain situations. I feel that thinking ahead and being overly prepared will reflect well on you and your business.
I chose to write this essay on customer service.I have learned alot from this class to better prepare myself on handling customers.after reading and watching the video,it shows the importance of how good your web page should be and your first impression.
I chose to write my essay on bug zappers.I have learned from this excercise that bug zappers do not do what you really would like them to do.the insects that you do want to zap are attracted to warm breathe more than the light it puts off.
I chose to do my essay from the Library of Inspection Articles " Clue reports". C.L.U.E. stands for “Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange”. To protect your client you should mention about how the Clue Report could affect their ability to be able to insurer their home after they purchase it. We are suppose to uncover the dark hidden secrets of the home.
A home inspector should always take in consideration that he is in someones home. It may be on the market to be sold but it may not be just that there could be cercomstances involded where the seller has to sell because there has been a loss of a loved one. Always be kind and considerate where addressing all people involved not just your client.
This is the easiest and least expensive way of communication to clients that my realtors pass out to clients as well as the open stands I have in Realtor offices for potential clients to take. The brochure offers a simple explanation of what to expect as well as what the inspection and additional services will cost.
A part of the communication, customer service and sales is how you represent yourself when you pull up to the location of the inspection. If you have a vehicle that has rust holes, muffler falling off and dented up, doesn’t promote a good image and could give the impression to the client that the report you provide will be run down or sloppy as well. A clean well kept vehicle helps sell your business as well. Applying professional graphics and lettering is the cheapest form of mass advertising any business can have and some states do not require permits for this unlike yard signs, billboards and etc… But, be careful not to overdo it as people only have a few seconds to read your graphics.
Picture shows a deck post that was in contact with soil that has washed over the footing. This will wick up moisture and accelerate deterioration. I advised client that excess soil should be removed around the posts so that all footings remain visible.
I’m progressing through NACHI’s material on Marketing. This article caught my attention: “Get More Inspection Work: Capture Leads from Your Website” (www.nachi.org/lead-capture.htm). The principle is that you offer a visitor to your website an opportunity to download an e-book “Tips for Homebuyers”. Customers have to divulge their email addresses to download the brochure. Implementing it into a website is easy because the article provides the HTML snippets needed. Very handy!

Professional Attire for Home Inspectors. The attached photo is not me, but it serves as a good example of how I dress for a home inspection. I wear khaki pants with a black leather belt and an InterNachi Polo, if the weather is hot I may wear khaki shorts with the polo. I wear a pair of black sneakers in good shape as I will be walking roofs and going places where I need good traction and nice shoes but not too nice. This “uniform” achieves a nice balance, it is dressy enough to provide a good and professional appearance while also not too dressy to not allow me to do my job as a home inspector.
Meeting your client for the first time. This article had some very basic and common sense tips for the first meeting with your new client. But many of these things are simple common courtesy that many of us tend to forget. Especially small business owners that specialize in a hands on trade like home inspectors & contractors. We know our trade but its the running the business and dealing with the public that messes us up sometimes.
Buying an old house, look out for old water pipes; mostly galvanized steel. All of these pipes tend to build up with sedimen, making the inside diameter of the pipe smaller and smaller over time. After a while it will get to the point where the water won’t flow at all. These pipes can also corrode at the joints causing leaks.
Your clients are the most important part of your business. It is important to convey your professionalism through first impressions. That means wearing the proper clothing, being on time, a clean truck, smile and proper language. This will help in having your client feel comfortable during and after the inspection.
It is important to have a professional appearance when performing a home inspection, meeting with clients, or when performing marketing activities. The way you present yourself creates the all important first impression with clients and/or referral partners, make it count.
Collar ties vs. rafter ties: A collar tie is a structural member located in the top third of the roof framing. Their purpose is the prevent the rafters from separating from the ridge beam. Rafter ties are located in the bottom third of the roof framing, typically the attic floor joists. Their purpose is to prevent rafter thrust from pushing the walls out.
