Screen Enclosures

Is there a rule for screened enclosures?
Couldn’t find info in the State or INachi SOP.
I’m thinking about the frame structure, doors, etc.
Thank you.

Can you be more specific?

I figure it has to follow the basic rules for steps, egress, railings, etc.

I have always inspected them, less screening.
Frame incl bottom bolts OK or missing/rusted, door locks/hydraulic closers etc.

We always visually inspect them, note any damaged screens or framing. Doors that don’t self latch etc.

Thanks guys. Have you discovered an SOP for them?

At least 25% have the problem.

I consider them to be the same as unconditioned interior simply because where I inspect, the living room generally has sliders that open to them.

I’ve had some that were simply like old school farm porches but screened in and I just figure all the same applies except electric has to be GFCI due to wet location.

I haven’t seen an SOP, but I’ve not looked for it. I spent some time talking to Tom Comer (HI71, now retired) and pumped him about some of these things but I don’t have any document I can point to.

I have no SoP. My process depends on whether the wall framing is structural or just filler to hold the screens. Often, for us up here in GA, the porches are elevated, so I make sure the screens are not relied upon as guards.
