Can anyone tell me, If a fireplace was equiped with a screen and built in glass doors, is the screen required.
The metal spark screen has been removed and someone has told the sellers that it is still required.

A factory built fireplace must be installed per the manufacturer’s instructions. This could be what they are referring to.

IRC:
1001.6.1 has to do with chimney spark arrestors
1005.2 deals with exterior air intake screens
what specific IRC section deals with this issue?
