Server Upgrade/CDN Addition

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to let you guys know about a few upgrades we’ve made:

The first is a major systems upgrade–adding another database server to the system to compansate for the growth of NACHI.ORG and the growth of this forum in particular. The upgrade is complete but the forum is not yet utilizing the new server (I’m still running a few final tests to make sure everything will run smooth). I’ll let you guys know when it goes 100% live.

The second is that we’ve started using a content distribution network to distribute common images, css and javascript files. What this means to you is that NACHI.ORG should perform about 20% faster due to the fact that common files (such as the logo, “contact us” and “home” images in the top-left corner of every page) are loaded from dedicated content servers that are distributed around the country (so if you’re in California, the content is loaded from a server in California).

I don’t know about you guys, but I can definitely tell the difference. Everything just feels snappy.

These changes are, again, part of a much larger system upgrade that will be in the works through 2009. Many parts will go live before 2009, but we hope to have the entire new infrastructure complete then to launch our full, international web system.

Cheers,

very nice

Planet NACHI…

Great.

Thanks Chris,

Haven’t noticed the speed boost, but then again I wasn’t looking for it.
One thing I have noticed is that when posting the system seems to take a long time to upload, or times out, at which point I have to goto “Go Advanced” and then hit post which corrects the time out situation.

Thanks again.
