I sub-contract for a another home inspector in central Florida area. My questions is with regards to the wire size from the weather head to the service panel. He is requiring wire size be noted and called out if incorrect for the Service panel amp size, IE 2/O, 3/O and 4/O. we are not state cert electricians and it is on the edge of calling out electrical code. Is this excepted notation on reports ??

It’s not about “code,” it’s about safety. If the service entrance cables are improperly sized, it’s imperative that it is noted in the report.

I check every wire gauge I can find, service entrance and branch.

It is not for code complience, but safety complience. Here, they are pretty much the same thing.

Hope this helps.
