Service Mast

Upon reading thru my training materials, it is stated that service masts should not be used to support other conductors or systems, such as cable tv.

Almost every house in my part of the DFW metroplex has cable running to them from overhead lines. When I look thru neighborhoods, most cables are attached to the service mast. As a matter of fact my previous house and my current house both had this type of attachment, and neither of the inspectors flagged this as an issue.

What do y'all do when presented with this situation? Is a second mast installation typical?

Terry, the other thing that you want to look out for, is more along the lines of satellite dishes or tv antennas hooked on the service mast.
