Service Wire insulation

57 year old home with some fraying/deterioration of insulation for service wires.

I wouldn’t want that at my house.

IMO once the outer jacket has deteriorated to the point that water can penetrate the cable and then possibly run inside the cable into the meter or service equipment it’s in need of replacement. Typically cable of this age will have poor or broken insulation on the conductors where they emerge from the weatherhead.

I agree, that cable has reached the end of its lifespan and needs replacement.

Corrosion inside the sheath may have compromised the neutral strands.
