I did a place yesterday that I wouldn’t even take my shoes off in. Some people live worse than animals. And if they have animals?..Well you can just imagine the surprises sometimes. If they don’t have respect for themselves, then my shoes stay on. I don’t even switch to official inspection foot wear.
Obviously, if it’s a “bad” house I’m not going to troll around in my bare stockings…it’s a common sense approach, just like anything in life

I just tie mine loosely where they easily slip on and off…any kind I want.

I still use boot covers from time to time… ON MY SLIPPERS!!! Yes, I still run across dirt floor basements from time to time (or other such scuzzy conditions).

Do you change your shoes when you go into the attic? So, now your carrying an extra pair of shoes around. I just wear cheap disposable booties.

Obviously you have never stepped on a pin, needle, glass fragment, thumbtack, or other such sharp object.
NEVER, NEVER, NEVER walk around a home without PPE (foot protection)!!!
The slippers that you wear protect you from a pin, needle, glass fragment, thumbtacks, or other sharp objects?
