Siding not cut back

This is a photo of rotted wood siding on a sidewall where inadequate clearance has been provided from an asphalt roof. Wood siding should be cut back a minimum of 2 inches from the roof. Sidewalls on roofs covered with asphalt shingles should always be flashed using step-flashing, which is a short section of flashing that overlaps each shingle in the course below and is overlapped by each shingle in the course above.
