I came across a 5 year old house with a 2x4 sill plate over hanging the foundation by approx. 3/4 of an inch for about 35 feet. Is anyone aware of an unwritten rule by Houston area AHJ’s allowing (turning a blind eye) a certain amount of over hang?
Not that uncommon. The foundation guys were off by 3/4" and the framer wanted to build according to the plans. Mention it, but it’s not a big deal and don’t recommend correction.
