In my experience, determining what to call out and what not to call out is a challenge for every new inspector. I always ask myself “what is the current and future consequence of this issue? Can I determine the cause? Looking for the cause will almost always lead you to the bigger issues.”
And for me, corrosion is almost always a problem. It is a state of deterioration as well as an indicator of elevated humidity, water intrusion or an aged component.
