Is there software available to combine PDF files?

Granted, I would think it possible with Adobe Acrobat but just can't justify the cost of that for the limited use at this time.

Thanks in advance.

I tried the cutepdf a couple of months ago and it seemed to screw up my computer and created files that seemed way too large, so I found the pdf995 and it has been working great for a month now.

Just fyi, to accomplish this task when using pdf995 you need the additional download "pdfedit995" and you select "Add new pdf995 print jobs to the last document" to combine two or more pdf files.

Michael,

I did see the pdfedit995 when I went to their website, but thanks for the heads-up.

Does this handle PDF files that are already created? Or only for those that are created with this software?

For instance, I have several PDF docs from various manufacturers, things like installation instructions or spec sheets, etc. that I would like to get into one cohesive doc. i.e. all vent pipe manufacturer spec sheets in one document.

I have tried cutting a pasting but sometimes images don't do so well and the text oftentimes requires so much tweaking that typing it myself would have been faster.

Thanks again for all who have replied.

Andrew, I just tried combining two pdf files that I had received from elsewhere & it seemed to work. I tried one pdf file that I had received but the originator had disabled printing when he created the pdf file so that one would not work. I had to play around with a couple of others to get everything just right. I think, but I’m not positive, that one trick is to print your 1st document to pdf without the ‘combine’ option set. Then go set that option in pdfedit995, then print your next documents to pdf and it seemed to combine them just fine.

Michael,

Thanks. I think I will download this and see what I can work out. As I said, I don't have major publishing stuff to do, so the price it right.

I just ran across this new shareware utility for combining pdf files. I used it and it seemed extremely easy & did combine two or more pdf files very quickly. It’s easier than the pdfedit shareware I’ve been using to combine pdf files.
