Solar Water Heater

I have an inspection tomorrow and the listing says it has a solar water heater. When I became a home inspector the training I took said home inspectors don’t inspect solar anything and there was no training on it. Do we inspect solar water heaters? If so where can I get some basic training on it?

Every solar water I’ve inspected so far had a leak. Which makes it easy to say it’s not functioning as intended and needs to be repaired.

Every solar water heater I inspect has a storage tank with a backup electric heating element, I look for obvious leaking , physical damage and if it is a Glycol system I look at the sight tube. Then I have a disclaimer that states I have no way to determine if the hot water is being produced by the solar or the backup electric heating element. I would agree with post above that most have significant corrosion and signs of past leaking.
