This will be interesting to watch play out. I have questions.
- Does an anonymous online threat and a visit from investigators make the parent legally responsible for the child’s actions? I believe this statement from the FBI is relevant. The FBI did not have probable cause, but they expected the parents to have probable cause. Interesting.
Colt Gray denied making the threats online, an investigator wrote. Jackson County alerted local schools, but authorities determined “there was no probable cause for arrest or to take any additional law enforcement action on the local, state, or federal levels,” the FBI said.
- Does the law require firearms not to be accessible to a 14-year-old in GA?
- Is it illegal for a parent to buy a 14-year-old a firearm?
We all feel the parents are responsible, but the law matters.

I haven’t had a chance to see what he is being specifically charged with, but I did hear something about GA being one of X number of states where the parents can be held liable for their children’s actions.

Yeah, should probably continue to shun, bully, and isolate them. That will probably fix it.
Blaming society for the actions of individuals. Shop lifters steal because society is bad. Drug addicts are a result of a sick society. The list is an endless string of victims.
There were the same bullies in my days but no school shootings.
My point is, the bullying hasn’t changed so we should be looking at what has changed.

Bullying has changed though. It used to be just for a few hours a day. Now it is round-the-clock on the internet and social media. I said it once before on the forums. A bullied kid had respite once they got home, in most cases. Not anymore.

Agree, like the indoctrination, psych warfare etc on our youth for instance.
The shooter fits the mold… links to FBI, on FBI “watch list” trained at fed facility just like Crooks.

Maybe. An online threat investigation does not necessarily equate to an extreme risk justifying the removal of firearms. The vast majority of these incidents are suicide-related.
This is a rare case where the shooter was taken alive. Hopefully, a trove of helpful information will be obtained.
