Stairs look nice as you tumble down them

But,? was it thermally effiecient? It was ( green building though)

Marcel

Yes it was very efficient.

Ken, how could it be thermally efficient when you have mortar inbetween the logs all the way through the walls?
Since I have never seen this type of wall construction, I am asking how this was possible.

The thermal conductivity of the mortar seems to offset the energy savings of the Green thingy.

The mortar is not solid, there is a bead about 1" from each end of the wood. So on a 16" wall there would be 12" between the mortar beads,(if the beads are 1" thick) either dead air or you can fill with loose fill insulation. Hope this helps. P.S. I called my brother yesterday afternoon, he is going to give me a cord of Red Cedar, so I will build a small one and take pictures for you.

Cool! Thanks Ken, get some good shots of the wall partailly built, please.

Ken, I would appreciate any pictures of the Master Cord Builder at work also. ha. ha.

Cool.
