Lots of variables, i’d imagine. Mineral content, etc. The fact that the water is heated makes a difference, as it would with the hot and cold any other time when steel is used.

I've seen original steel piping utilized for residential boiler systems that is 100 plus years old. I've never seen this piping material corrode. They may eventually leak at the threads, but never corrode, if piped properly.
