Student Discussion: How to Inspect HVAC Systems Course

I’m nearing the end of this course and I’m surprised how much I didn’t know and how much I’ve learned in this course. Thank you InterNACH for a really helpful and informative course

I’m currently in the middle of the course. Actually, getting ready to start the inspecting a gas furnace video. How are you doing with the course?

This wasn’t the easiest course for me. However I made it through and it taught me so so much. I was able to look at my furnace and understand the effects of a condenser pump with pvc pipeline connected to my HVAC system which had a leak and is on schedule to being fixed. I was able to determine I had a level 1 oil burning furnace and the importance of making sure on how to properly maintain it. I was able to know the importance of making sure the air filters for my HVAC connected to my furnace was clean and the Merve value needed to make sure I wasn’t over protecting my system which can cause damage to a system if the Merve value is to high for the system to retain. To say the least Internachi is an amazing place to learn the literature of what we are actually striving for here. Which is to be great, the best of the best inspectors. I would encourage my classmates that when you finish your certification to do it again and again like a Bible. Knowledge is key. The smarter you are the better prepared you will be. Thank you Internachi for opening my third eye to what a home consists of to be considered a safe and healthy home. By the way it was an upflow oil burning furnace made my Lennox. Below is a picture of a pvc condensation pump that controls water to and from the HVAC unit. Please feel free to correct me if I was wrong. Thank you again Internachi. To the team…you began in the right place in my opinion.

You will notice a tissue being used if you look closely this were the leak was.

I hope to learn something about it that I didn’t already know at the least!

Starting this course today. Looking forward to it!

About to start the how to inspect HVAC systems. I think this is my weakest part of inspecting and I am anxious to get caught up.

yes I inspected my families hvac system and have learned so much. hands on is fantastic

Was a fantastic course. I loved the videos in this one, there were a lot, very informative.

I took this course twice so I didn’t miss or forget anything and it has really paid off for me especially when doing my mock inspections, I now have the knowledge and ability to perform the inspection with confidence and not miss anything. A very confident and professional sense of security !

Hey Terry,
I have done the same thing with a few of the courses. It is really great to be able to review and retake quizzes and tests if so inclined. It makes sense to put in a little extra time now in order to avoid being stumped, or unprepared, in front of a client.

I’ll be able to inspect my HVAC system with this course haha.

Starting the course

Completed this up to the essay and final exam, I decided to go back through and write up some note cards / flash cards to review before taking the final. I am a kinesthetic learner, meaning I absorb material better by physically doing the thing. Years of being a carpenter means my hands are my brain. lol. So, for me the act of writing information increases my assimilation of the material by 70%. I’m likely to buy a textbook to reference and highlight. if any of you are like me this might help.
