Student Discussion: How to Perform Residential Electrical Inspections Course

Starting course

Going through the course but have a question.

If inspecting a home and it has 2-prong non-grounded receptacles, it would/should be noted in the report, would you however recommend it to be evaluated by a licensed electrician to be upgraded to a 3-prong grounded receptacle for safety? is it considered a defect ?

Ello Guhvnas

Passed the National Test and got my InterNACHI CPI status, but since I’m a new inspector, I’m working my way through several InterNACHI courses, particularly in areas where I feel less certain.

Hi,
Im starting this class tomorrow.

Congrats, Jeff.
What are your thoughts on the exam?

Hey Frank. The national exam is tough. New Jersey requires 120 hours of classroom, 40 hours of supervised field training, and I still studied 3 hours a day for 6 weeks leading up to the exam.
Go ahead and purchase the official practice quizzes. Even after all the studying I did, those were still very helpful to know what to expect on the actual exam.
