My turn to dig into the course work I’ve inspected a few roofs so far and this a great resource to expand my knowledge
There are several roof material used here in El Paso texas. Most new homes are going with tiled roofs. Which require stronged trusses and lumber spans.
Passed the roofing exam… about to jump into electrical.
Yeah and they are much easier to transport than a catapult set up across the street in the neighbors yard. Lol.
One of my neighbors owns a roofing company and he was showing me some tips when climbing up and over the roofline and they getting back onto the ladder. Doing it right feels a lot less awkward.
Enjoyed the course and I am starting my inspection assignments/essays!
Starting the course now.
Five years ago, I was up on the roof with my home inspector, risking my dignity and gravity. Now let’s see if they nailed the inspection or if they just wanted a better view of the neighborhood!!
Just finishing up this course. Man that’s a lot of material. But good material. Moving right along!
i have confusion in How to Perform Roof Inspections Course. in collar ties and rafter section this course used term perpendicular a lot. in my understanding word perpendicular means intersecting at 90 degree or form right angel. when this term used in phases like “When ceiling joists run perpendicular to the rafters” it create whole lot of confusion for students. since in my basic understanding rafter and celling joist can not be directly perpendicular to each other, if that happen that can create unimageable straight slope for roof which is not possible and practical for residential building. so i was hoping if all the great head of this course can come together and found another term for it. which is not confusing and misleading like currently we used and express the whole term properly that will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Finishing the course. I enjoy the lessons, but doing the actual inspections/evaluations on the roof components is a great exercise.
Nice, that course is packed with solid info. Anything in particular that stood out to you?
