i guess we are on the same roofing boat haha
I’m about to start the roofing course!
Hi Anthony, thank you. I just failed the exam. I couldn’t finish it in time.
Starting this course tonight. Wish me luck!
In the Chimney section, it mentions “chimney crowns” then “rain caps” and says not to confuse “rain caps” with “chimney caps”. Then goes on to keep calling them “chimney caps” not “crowns”. From my understanding the “crown” supports structure of masonry and flue as well as keeping out water, and a “chimney cap” is aka “rain cap” and covers the flue from rain entering. Is this just a typo on the lesson and quiz when they keep saying “cap” instead of “crown”?
Also for the exam question “A rain cap or deflector ____ required on all manufactured chimneys”, I put “are not” because I didn’t remember reading this requirement. I got the question wrong on the exam, so I went back over the section to look at it, and it doesn’t mention this as a requirement, it simply says “Most manufactured chimneys are supplied with rain caps or deflectors built to the manufacturer’s specifications” but makes no mention of it being required.
I’m finishing up with the Roofing course and it is thorough!
Be encouraged, you’ll complete it on your next attempt!
The inspection and writing assignment asks to take several photos of the roof system or components, but only one image can be uploaded.
Id love to know about using drones to capture roof inspections.
What do yall think of a mavic 2 pro?
Continuing the discussion from Greetings!:
Starting the roof inspection course.
Just got my SOP certificate now on to the roof inspection course.
This threw me off as well. I ended up making a collage with the four most important Images in one.
Starting the roof inspections course. I just found out the inspector who performed my home inspection fell off the roof of another inspection he was on and broke two major bones. He will be out of commission for several months maybe even a year. Roof inspections certainly have my attention.
