I see it all the time. They just remove the fuses and bus bar in the panel and replace it with anything that will fit. The cover panel is then screwed into the wall. Probably costs them about $600.00, so they save anywhere from $600.00 to $800.00 on a replacement.

The electrical panel box is only rated for its specific use - change the UL approved use and it no longer is acceptable.

It is indeed sad how these things seem to come into play. Professional thing to do, as difficult as it is for me is to do at times, is to move on. Hopefully thes price killers will do the same. Citizens desires to be at arms length from all these inspection issues. This is proven with their reinspection program third party arrangement with Inspector Depot.
