This is just idle curiousity, but I was wondering how many of you guys take the JLC? I started subscribing about 3 years before I got out of carpentry and kept it up through appraisal and into inspection. My wife thinks I’m nuts, but it’s my favorite magazine. Great articles by people who know thier stuff.

I have every issue since 1987 when they were as big as a “life” magazine.

I have the cd roms as well, and access to all the articles on line.

In 1991 my wife tried to throw away the 50 or so issues I had at that time. It was an ugly divorce.

Get it monthly. A great magazine and as far as I’m concerned, a must have, especially if doing ANY new construction inspections.

Fanatastic magazine, ASHI members get a great discount an pay about $25. per year. I asked nick to look into this discount for NACHI and hopefully he has worked something out by now over the past 7 months. For you guys who don’t have dual membership like me, it will be a little expensive but worth it.

I take the JLC along with several other professional magazines just to keep up on all the latest materials, building inovations and I just like this stuff. I got a professional discount from the very beginning and it has carried on for several years. YOu just have to ask for it. It is an excellent magazine and I highly recommend it for anyone doing inspection work or construction work.

If NACHI gets a discount, I’ll have to give it a try. Sounds like a must have!

There is a professional discount available, but ASHI negotiated one beyond that for its members. I’m sure NACHI could do the same. The articles really are excellent, mostly written by guys in the field who know thier stuff. Some of it is only useful to contractors, but not much. Worth every penny.

Since no one else seemed interested, I approached the Circulation Director and asked what we needed to do to get the same discount as ASHI. I have pasted his reply below.

Dear Jeffrey:

Thanks for your note inquiring about the availability of subscription discounts to NACHI members. At this time we do not have an agreement in place with NACHI. To set one up, we will need to be contacted by the NACHI leadership and we will enter discussions as to the potential number of new subscribers an agreement will yield, as well as the scope of promotional and marketing efforts NACHI can apply to the program. Based on that discussion, we can determine what discount, if any, can be made available to NACHI members.

Sincerely,

Paul Ruess

Circulation Director

Since I am not leadership, this leaves me out. Any of you higher-ups care to pursue this?
