So I was sent one of these Thermal Master P2 cameras to review. I guess the street price is about $200.00. Pics at bottom. First off, I took it up north for Easter just because it’s so small and I would have some time to play with it.
As unluck would have it, we apparently stressed the toilet at my FILs house and the toilet developed or exacerbated a problem with the ring on the upstairs guest toilet. Niece said “I hear dripping”. Thermal camera says, “True”.
So straight out the gate, for the size of this thing, it’s a win. You can carry it easily.
-Seems to have a decent refresh rate.
-Seems to match temps with my HikMicro Pocket 2.
Seems to be able to pick up an animal in complete darkness. It was night time and dark when the neighbor’s dog ran out. I grabbed the camera and there he is. 100% unable to see him with the naked eye. It was black soup.
A couple images comparing my pocket 2 to this P2.

The thing I miss most about it is Fusion mode but it doesn’t have a visible lens, so it is what it is.
I guess my final statement is that for the money, it’s a reasonable backup for what we do. It’s not a pro device but it doesn’t have a pro price tag. It was fairly easy to set up and use, I prefer a standalone simply because it’s hard enough to keep the phone charged for 2 inspections in a day, but I usually only do thermals for about 5 minutes anyway so I can get past that one.
I’d really like a fusion mode for context but it’s not the end of the world.
I will carry with me, specially when I’m traveling for work or pleasure. It’s a good value and a decent gateway into the thermal world. It’s a “thermal flashlight” that may help push in a direction and works decently at that.
