Thin metal between truss

Hey everyone. I had a client ask me what these little metal bars on his roof sheathing were. I have not seen them, and don’t know what purpose they serve.

Looks like a roof truss spacers.

Indeed, truss spacers knocked out of the way when roof sheeting was installed. Perhaps to adjust a truss…

Second question, is the fact that they are not attached anymore a defect?

When the roof sheathing is nailed down, sometimes the edges don’t line up with the trusses. So the spacers are knocked out.

Not a defect, only there to help space the trusses during installation.
