This CAN'T be right!

I came across this today. According to the listing agent when the polybutylene plumbing in the house was replaced, they also ran this pvc water supply line from the street to the house. Check out the photo and look at the rubber coupling. Is this acceptable? I would think the pressure could eventually blow off the coupling and flood the house until the local DPW can get out to shut off the water at the curb. Also, is this acceptable use of pvc plumbing?

The PVC may be a “chase” for the copper water service. If not, yes it’s wrong. Fernco’s are drainage ftgs. and not designed for pressure.

Thanks Joshua! That makes sense. I couldn’t understand how that coupling was holding all that pressure with one little clamp.
