That is amazing.
What I think is even more amazing is to watch it from further out.
This is a skyscraper falling through the atmosphere with the aerodynamics of a bridge column.
Got to love Elon Musk and SpaceX. Thank God for visionaries like him.
McDonnell Douglas had developed similar technology back in the early 90s. Sadly, after one crash they ended the program.
Elon has done great things with our tax dollars. To be fair, so has NASA. Is Space X more efficient with our dollars than NASA? Maybe?. But, NASA endeavors are sometimes not the type that have the inherit capability to produce a profit. As an example, designing and building the James Webb Telescope. There isn’t much in the way of profiting from the telescope, but we still want it (at least I do).
Bottom line, space exploration can benefit from public and private entities working together, that’s why the great Ronald Reagan promoted that idea.
Just think how many booster rockets are on the bottom of the ocean from NASA.
Government should go back to the very small handful of duties it has been given in the Constitution… about 2% to 3% of its current size. But apologize to us first. And let all living government employees and their heirs assume the national debt, we shouldn’t have to pay for that.
