I use a TIF 8800A. My battery charger adapter has disappeared.

Can anyone tell me if there is a generic adapter that can be used to safely charge the unit. I would be grateful for any info.

David,

the output is 6VDC 100mA

tip positive

If you can find the right transformer and the right plug you should be alright. I would call the guys at tiff and have them send a replacement. They are easy to deal with.

What replacement will work, I don’t know. I’d try TIF directly for a replacement.

But, those darn sneaky TIF chargers, I also had one disappear. I tried a C charger, and while nothing bad happened, it also did not charge. I came up with a spare charger (through no anticipation of need, just good fortune).

Best wishes,
Mike

Anatol and Mike; Thanks for the info. I guess I had better order a new one. David

Hi to all,

David, you may want to check out your local radio shack, as they stock several generic chargers that will probably do the job, I bought one from them several vears ago that has selectable DC outputs and interchangable tips, if I remember correctly I paid about $20 for it.

Regards

Gerry

Radio Shack was able to fit me up with an adapter/charger with proper pin and unit then charged up OK. Works great again and paid for itself today.

Again thanks, David Verge

David,

Glad to hear it. Can I ask what you paid for it?

Anatol; The one I bought was a return. I paid 7.00 for it . <br /> They normally retail for 19.95. The also have universal adapters that will plug into the cigar lighter in your car/truck.
