Hi guys,

I am looking for the tonnage and year built of this Trane unit.

Model # 8wv024a100d2

Serial # x14389398

Is the Carrier Blue Book worth the price and the best way to go to find out this info? I know it is encoded in the numbers but I have not learned the decoding process yet.

Thanks in advance!

Just a guess, but a 2 ton, 1993. Looking at the Preston Guide I’m having some problems finding the MN you gave. My book only covers 1960-2000, is this older or newer then that?

NACHI MAB!

Its an upflow unit in a small apartment. Its probably between 3-8 years old. I double checked the numbers to be sure I copied them right. The unit is in a friends place and I was just trying to see if there was any way to decode the Trane numbers without a guide.

Being that it is a Trane unit, I think you will find the model number is actually a BWV024A100D2, which is a 2 ton unit.

For the last several years Trane has been putting the manufacture date on the data plate. If it is three to eight years old, it should be there.
