Trap??

Anyone familiar with this trap type? Should I recommend replacement? Thank you.

Are they an issue?

Not really.

There was a thread on these about two weeks ago

I think Mike Larson said something about them being a little like drum traps, but do not quote me.

Bottle traps have a plate baffle in them that the drainage has to go down and around. If that rusts out you can’t see it and sewer gases will be able to enter the room.

I didn’t say they were “no problem”

Since they rely on the partion to maintain the trap seal, they are a problem as far as I’m concerned.

Check with your local AHJ.
