It is also important to note many of the questions are common sense if you have been in a building trade. I have a mechanical background which helped me some with the hvac and electrical portions. Guys from the northern states who have seen boilers and homes with basements may have a little advantage too. I’m here in the south and have never seen a boiler system or been in a basement.

I took the test a few weeks ago and was very surprised at the amount of questions about fireplaces. My 2 biggest weaknesses were “structural components” & “heating systems” according to my score report. InterNACHI stuff was great to build a base of knowledge, but I honestly believe Quizlet was my best study guide leading up to the test. TONS of NHIE prep on there…
