Unvented roofs --- and shingle warranties

Even where codes allow unvented roof assemblies, some shingle makers still restrict warranty coverage for shingles installed on unvented roofs.

James,

It will interesting to see how this plays out in the future. Shingle manufacturers used to claim that a radiant barrier would hurt their shingles and then studies proved that radiant barriers only increased the roof temperature by 3% or less than degrees in the heat of a south Texas summer!
