Economic Census Form for Business
I keep receiving this in the mail for one of my businesses and the mailing states that response is required by law…
Anyone else received this??
I have never completed a census form in my 50 years…
This is the first time I have seen one like this…
Not sure of the date.
I thought they were junk mail and just kept throwing them away.
This last one has “Overdue” in Red Ink on the front of the envelop
Census taking is one of the very few duties defined for the Federal Government in the Constitution.
Yes, by law, they can compel you to complete the census.
The census was supposed to be head count but has been expanded over the years to collect data.

Yes, unfortunately as with all thing government, it gets expanded far beyond what was ever intended.
I got my third one this year. Last time I got one was in 2008. Typical. I just give it to my accoutant, and he took care of it.
I think the original intention was to determine number of Congressional seats.
Basic head count in other words.
Which only require a head count.
