What is the general rule of thumb regarding amount of ridgevent per 1000 square feet. Is it 4 ft per 1000? I could use your help re enforcing my memory. Thanks.

Check this site and see if what you need is there. They have a some pretty good PDF docs that explain all the various type of ventilation, how much, how to calculate, etc.

Sorry I don't have an straight answer. Off the top of my head that number sounds low.
