Washington State update Feb 21,2008

As some of you know, the Senate has passed their bill and sent it on to the House for their approval / changes. SB 6606 was sent to the House Commerce & Labor Committee. A hearing was scheduled for tomorrow but has been cancelled. Here is the current notice from the State.

Please note the cancellation of the 2/22/08 Home Inspector hearing and it’s reschedule for 2/26/08.

Subject: House Commerce & Labor Public Hearing on Home Inspector Licensing 2/22 - CANCELLED
Hi Bruce,
Tomorrow’s (2/22) public hearing on the home inspector licensing bill has been cancelled and re-scheduled for Tuesday, February 26, at 8:00 p.m.
Unfortunately, I don’t have contact information for interested folks. If you happen to have contact information from your sunrise review process, would you mind sending that to me? If not, could you forward this? I just want to try and get in touch with people as soon as possible so they don’t travel here for the hearing tomorrow.
Thanks,
Alison

Thanks!

Does anyone know more details as to what specifically is being recommended? I read the Sunrise draft but, that was a draft.

If anyone would like to listen to the House Commerce & Labor Committee hearings held last night, HERE is the link. Forward to the one hour eleven minute (1:11:00) mark in the hearing to pass all the other bills heard.

There was no one there to speak against this bill. Everyone that spoke, was for the legislation. There were a few people that wanted additional items added but I don’t think those will be added. It also looks like the requirement for a Structural Pest Inspectors license is gone. Simply another referral to a specialist for WDO/WDI/Conducive Conditions.

It look like this will pass with overwhelming support. July 2009…here we come.

Thanks for the update Stephen. I found this today and wanted to add it. Skip to about 14 minutes to find discussion on ESSB 6606. http://www.tvw.org/media/mediaplayer.cfm?evid=2008021281&TYPE=V&CFID=3244923&CFTOKEN=39944ef1dae16e54-5CF5B50D-3048-349E-4E6065464A02A1F1&bhcp=1
