Out here we like to park our $100,000 cars on the street and fill our 3-car garages with boxes and boxes of junk–ooops, sorry, one man’s junk is another man’s priceless possessions–goodies. Consequently, on about 25% of my inspections I have no way to get anywhere near the water heater. But I do take good pictures. Notwithstanding the fact that I don’t like flammable materials stored near my gas-fired water heater, is there anything in the any of the codes about any sort of clearance requirement like there is for electric panels?
