Today, on a new construction home, I saw the range vent pipe touching, or appeared to be touching a copper water pipe. Anyone know of any type of clearance I can read up on ? icon_redface.gif

Thanks,

Just recommend that these two components be separated with a piece of foam insulation, as dissimilar metals will cause a leak in the cooper feed line (from galvanic reaction).

The client will also complain about an intermittent clicking/tapping noise from that area once finished, caused by thermal expansion and contact between the two materials. Insulation is an “Excellent” and "Appropriate"correction to eliminate both abnormal wear, deterioration and noise from within the wall. icon_idea.gif
