Could anyone tell me what a “well riser” is? I haven’t run into one as yet but would like to know what to look for and how to check it. A picture would be very helpful.

I belive what you are referring to is the part of the well casing that sticks up past ground level. It should be protected from mechanical damage (ie. vehicles, garden tractors, etc). Should also have a well cap to prevent debris from going down into the well. Up here they are not air tight so as not to create a negative pressure within the well as the water is removed.

Thanks Paul. I kinda suspected thats what it might be but wasn’t sure. I got an inspection from a relo company and a well riser inspection is on the list. Some people call them different things I guess. I am familiar with the casing, cap, etc.
