Wells going dry

Interesting article about wells going dry here in New Hampshire due to the drought.

I actually had a dug well installed for a house I’m building which currently holds approximately 1500 gallons but hasn’t been put in full time use yet. It’s 16 feet deep and we used four foot well tiles for more capacity.

When I get a chance I’ll put together some picture’s to post and the formula I use to determine how much water the well holds.

I use coat hangers to locate where to dig my first well and then hired a man with a back-hoe to dig about 20 feet. 20 tons of 3/4 inch net gravel was added at bottom and side of 4 feet concrete tiles forming the well.

Never ran out of water but my neighbour did…
