It must meet the manufactures installation code. Even more important if the outbuilding is insured. If there was a fire the insurers would have good cause to defend from paying out based on alteration of manufactures product and not installed as per instructions.

Only if flammable vapors are present. Otherwise you would follow manufacturers instructions.

Greg that same statement is in the Education I provided. The rules would be the same in a garage with a Water Tank. Raise the sucker up if there is any chance of vapors.
