We've Expanded the CMI Search...

So why are results showing from 183 miles away?

Same with me, and Also from other states? I think it should only show results from the sane state regardless of distance.

Jim

I can understand the neighboring state, as a member may be close to a state border and serve both states. What I don’t understand is a state that is 1,000 miles away, 4 states over, showing a distance of 104 miles and on the results.

Exactly!

I’ll shoot for that;)

Not anymore Marcel. I have 2 in Ontario and 2 in the US.

In order to work with some of the larger states, we expanded the search radius to 200 miles.

Jeff - the Idaho results look like an error in the geocoding. What was your exact search query? Let me know and I’ll look into it.

Zip code only… 55060

Only 3 of us in Minnesota

For my location, I use to get about 4 to show up. Now 64 CMI’s show up when punching in my Postal code. This is not an improvement as far as I am concerned. Can you have less on a page (currently 25 come up on a page)? That way, if someone is looking in my direct area, chances are they will call someone off the first page and not wade through countless other pages.

There used to be only 3 in Maine and now 16 because it includes all of NH.

Just a suggestion, why not do a user selected radius? Maybe only give them the options of 50, 100 or 200 miles.

It looks pretty awesome to only have one or two inspectors in my area who are CMIs, but when it jumps to 200 miles and two pages of names, it seems less unique.

The way Nick has been pushing CMI lately it won’t be long before 90% of inspectors that have been in business for 3 years will be a “Master” inspector, especially in Canada. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, I guess the next step will to bring in a “BCMI”, better certified master inspector…

Or if there’s a search by state keep it in the state?

Jeff addressed that earlier, one state doesn’t always work for CMIs living on borders.

Your suggestion makes the most sense and would probably be the easiest to implement.

When I pull up CMI’s for my zip code it shows 69 but the majority of them can not do a home inspection in New York as they do not hold the state license.

Most people will look at the first few options - the closest CMI with a good website, for instance. The search radius right now is set so that we can be fair to a maximum amount of inspectors, since plenty of states/provinces are massive and have few CMIs.

I can look into adding a search radius drop-down.

As for the Idaho issue - I’m not sure what happened there. I reran the geocode coordinates for Spirit Lake, ID, and it fixed the issue. Let me know if you see anything else!
