it. Wood is NOT their food of choice. Rodents do, however, have a need to constantly chew on items which are somewhat harder than their dental material. Their teeth grow, unrestrained, and their incisors would punch holes through their lips and cheeks without something to file them down-on.

Hard to judge the scale of the second (damage) photo, but if that's all the damage there was, (looks like a linear foot, maybe two), I've personally known Jersey City rats that could do that quantity of damage in just one or two sittings...and still be ready for a little heated procreation directly afterward...

Speaking of exposed electrical. This mouse was real hungry and decided to chew on a double tap. The current sent him to mouse heaven.

The funny thing is… when I opened the cover my female client screamed.

The dead giveaway (no pun intended) is the condition of the rat’s tail. If you look closely at the photo, you will see that it is a bit charred, and that it has split down the center. Looks like it cooked. Most probably from a jolt.

Maybe I need glasses. Now I noticed the conductor “paper” wrap. Guess he would have been much better-off with a joist after all.

Thanks for sending the photo, you probably helped to save a new inspectors life. Thank the rat as well, he gave his life to keep our brotherhood alive.
