What printer do you use?

I have been using an old Hewlett Packard from previous employment.

The photos in my report are coming out very muddy and dark.

I was just wondering what printers are in use among us and what results you get when printing reports?

Would really like the report to look a little snappier when printed out!

Jeffrey,

I have used several over the years for my construction business taking pictures of bad construction, decay etc. (Canon, Epson, Ricoh, and HP).
I just purchased another HP (model psc 2175 all in one) That I really like. It takes my memory cards etc and works excellent with XP and my cameras and binoculars programs and gives very sharp and clear printing. I picked it up at Staples for under $200.00 on sale. My clients like the photos..Just my 2 cents.

I use a HP 6122, one of the last large ink cart. types. Can do 18 pages of color in draft mode. Automatic front and back page printing when needed.

Works well with XP and Me. No complaints

I have been using a Lexmark Z45, no problems at all and the photos come out nice. Plus the printer was inexpensive.

Here’s a good printer tip.

We use a Canon i560. It fits nicely in a standard airbplane luggage bag/suitcase with a bit of padding.

It prints fast enough. It folds up with no sharp edges.

The best feature - is that it will warn you when it is running out of ink. We make bets as to how many inspections we can do before it runs out. When it runs out of one of the colors - it just stops printing - waiting for a new cartridge. No smearing or other horrible printing. Consider that attribute.

Cheers,

Bill

As much as I would like to consider the Canon, previous history with Canon will not allow me to EVER purchase another! icon_smile.gif

I am going to check out that HP 6122 I think.

Thanks for the help!

I was using the portable hp 450 ci but had nothing but trouble with it. I am now using the Canon i80 and really like it. It is very small and fits in my computer bag. It prints faster than the hp did when I could get it to work. It also prints pictures well. My only complaint would be that the ink cartridges are small. I carry two extra cartridges with me at all times. Other than that, I am very happy with it.

Jeffrey,

If you do onsite reports the 6122 is kind of big to be lugging around. IMO

True.

I am however, until I have more experience, doing reports at home.

Gives me a chance to compose my thoughts, decide on wordings, look up things that confuse me, (An EXTREMELY long list!) and then get it all together.

So a home office printer is just fine for the foreseeable future.

I realize you all probably know this ,but my HP 6122 just told me it was out of black ink. I ignored this warning and printed 350 yes 350 full page flyers with ink to spare. If this happens to you bypass the warning and keep on keeping on. You will know when it is truly out of ink. icon_biggrin.gif
