People need to do their homework before they vote. We get the elected officials we allow to be elected.:shock:
I live in Long Island, NY where we have tremendously high taxes coupled with a huge number of independent authorities and districts that have individual taxing powers.
Another boon to tax payer ignorance is the payroll deduction. The government authorities new it would be difficult to collect the large percentage the taxes amounted to, so they legislated mandatory payroll withholding.
Many people believe the their tax refund is money they are receiving from the government…not getting their overpayment back:roll: !!! It is just sad.
Since you got me started…how about the insult of having social security payments taxed? How many times was that taxed…first the employer pays, then the employee, then in retirement, we get to pay again…ouch.
Remember to vote and keep your elected officials on a short leash!
