No ideas? It was on all the trusses over the garage, only in a five or six foot section of them as shown.

First look was spray paint before everything was installed. Pattern ain’t right for that.

Fungus or mold of some type is the only likely explanation.

I will try and go back for some more photos. It is not spray paint. It looks brushed on. It is blue and kind of tacky. It is a new construction, no drywall. Not mold or anything.

Dan;

If it’s new construction and the builder is around or owner why not ask

them so we can all find out, might be something new???

I would have asked, but nobody was around the day of inspection. And the house is a little out of my way to go back.

It would appear to be some of the newer borate treatment used in new construction in lieu of wolmanized materials for bottom plates. It is the same color which really doesn’t mean anything. You folks that are doing new homes, you will be seeing this treatment as a termiticide rather than the wolman salts or copper arsenates. It will require diiferent fastening procedures as it is HIGHLY corrosive. Galvanized or stainless steel fastners MUST be used. This would include the nails fastening the studs to the plates, anchor bolts, any meteal bracing/rack control that should come in contact with it.

Why would theyt put it on the roof trusses, and only in one area?
