Is this near salt water? I don’t usually see an aluminum box that looks that bad in fresh water. It is clear that the cover was missing or pretty loose for quite a while.


I bet there are a lot of folks who don’t know the inside of a raceway used outside is still a wet location, ref Romex. Stripping the jacket off does not make this TW or THHN/THWN icon_wink.gif

What about the "rope" in the underground conduit?

I thought that UF should have been used, and "elliptical" dimensions applied for "fill" as required by Table 1 in Chapter 9?

I would expect to see THWN. If I see a cable in a pipe and it isn’t just a “sleeve” I know I am seeing a homeowner working.


I suppose YMMV.


The “elipitical/fill” thing does seem to come as a surprise to some folks who show know better. Since that measurement is not in the tables it is hard for some folks to come up with.
