I run across houses here that have no GFCI’s on a regular basis, my county didn’t start inspecting until 1992. It’s irrelevant to me though, I recommend GFCI’s in the required locations without regard to the age, when code inspection came in, or anything else. They’re basic safety items that no home should be without.
