Where Is Martin?

My daughter is having her kitchen remodeled. She says:
“Some dummy nicked the copper supply pipe when cutting into the drywall”.
*“They cut & shaved it and put a coupling on it, then soldered.”

I don’t like the looks of it… … …? … … …

Looks fine. They even used a flame protective cloth. Pipe support above and below the repair.
They did not clean the solder off the fitting.

Go to 10:10 This demonstrates why that is a mess. (among other things if you watch it all)

That’s a horrible solder joint. If the solder ran out of the joint it got too hot.

Soldering is an art that involves perfect timing and can only be taught with repetition over and over. The skilled plumbers have retired.

If I am rating it for craftsmanship, it gets a “D”, but for function, it passes. Which is good, cuz it looks like most of the pipe soldering that I do…

that looks like the carpenter did the plumbing repair…if they hurry up and get the drywall patched it wont look so bad…
