My daughter is having her kitchen remodeled. She says:
“Some dummy nicked the copper supply pipe when cutting into the drywall”.
*“They cut & shaved it and put a coupling on it, then soldered.”
I don’t like the looks of it… … …? … … …

That looks like crap. He wasn’t a plumber.
Yea, a plumber would have used a Sharkbite!! LOL
No on the Sharkbite,
Looks fine. They even used a flame protective cloth. Pipe support above and below the repair.
They did not clean the solder off the fitting.
That’s a horrible solder joint. If the solder ran out of the joint it got too hot.
Soldering is an art that involves perfect timing and can only be taught with repetition over and over. The skilled plumbers have retired.
If I am rating it for craftsmanship, it gets a “D”, but for function, it passes. Which is good, cuz it looks like most of the pipe soldering that I do…
Good Lord!! Thank you. When I saw the topic, I thought Martin got lost on the beach. Glad you guys found him safe and sound!!
I thought he had been flagged!
that looks like the carpenter did the plumbing repair…if they hurry up and get the drywall patched it wont look so bad…
Be careful this weekend Marc.
Iguanas are cold-blooded and when the temperatures drop, the normally tropical reptiles slow and can become frozen.
