Which electrical code is used in your area, NEC or IRC?

I’m trying to find out which is more widely used for a writing project I’m working on.

Florida
I believe it is the NEC.

The IRC and the IBC gets their electrical code from the NEC. It’s all NEC except for local amendments.

The 2014 NEC was adopted on June 13, 2017 with the 6th Edition of the Florida Building Code. The effective date is December 31, 2017. The NEC is adopted in Florida with no state amendments.

Currently here in New Jersey it’s the 2014 NEC with some local amendments.

In August 2017, the Texas Commission of Licensing and Regulation, which oversees TDLR, adopted amendments to Chapter 73.100 of the Electricians administrative rules and established the 2017 NEC as the “minimum standard” for all electrical work in Texas covered by the Act. The effective date was September 15, 2017.
