Whirlpool tub wiring.

Mike,

I hate to disagree with you, but the wording is not vague. As you posted, it says

From my Jacuzzi Tub:" FOR ALL UNITS:

1) MOTOR/PUMP: 115 VAC, 3450 RPM/7.8 AMP, 60 Hz Single phase.

That tells you what the motor is rated for and its RPM.

2) ELECTRICAL SERVICE REQUIREMENTS:

Okay, let's stop right here a minute. This states electrical "requirements". Okay, let's continue ...

2) continued 115 VAC, 15 AMP, 60 Hz. Requires dedicated separate circuit."

Then it gives you those "requirements".
a) 115 VAC
b) 15 AMP
c) 60 Hz
d) Requires dedicated separate circuit

What is vague about that?

Go ahead and call me a dummy, but hears my 2 little pennies.

They are not clear on the minimum and max. But when you say requirements I would take that as the minimum.

I showed my stupidity so I'll be quite now.

Larry,

Why in interpret "requirements" to "minimums"? If it had wanted "minimums" it would have stated "minimum circuit requirements".

You are trying to interpret something which does not need interpreting, it used very clear and very concise words.

Your right I shouldn’t interpret it as the minimum. icon_redface.gif

But when you say requirment would you take any less.
Now would you take more.

It's not that I think they should put 20, 60, or whatever on it. It's just they are not real clear. Why not use the word "must use only" if that is all they accept.

They did. They said "ELECTRICAL SERVICE REQUIREMENTS".

Jerry is right on the money with this one, as is Bob Badger. Manufacturer’s specifications call for a 15 amp dedicated circuit. And you are also correct, Jerry, with regard to the 12ga wiring. My entire house is wired with #12 wire, whether connected for 15 or 20 amp circuits. For the few cents more, it just made sense to do it this way when the walls were open…

Bob

I am in a mood tonight.

What type of outlet (recpt) would they use? ![icon_lol.gif](upload://zEgbBCXRskkCTwEux7Bi20ZySza.gif)

This is not a "hardwired" unit.

I think that Jacuzzi is wrong and I will post back when I can prove it.

Mike,

Jacuzzi and their builders brand tubs DO have a "name plate" sticker in the side of the Tub within 10" of the motor giving the circuit requirements.

Saw another one wired w/ a 20 amp breaker again today,

Mike P,

I believe everyone here is saying that if you conceed that the electrician should follow the name plate rating, we will conceed that you may be correct about Jacuzzi being wrong on this one. ![icon_biggrin.gif](upload://iKNGSw3qcRIEmXySa8gItY6Gczg.gif)

Dude, you have lost the battle, try not to spend too much more time fighting the war.

Maybe this is Jacuzzi's way of having electricians that can't read, pay for warranty repairs!
