On a wind mitigation the primary roof has a permit, the secondary roof does not. What is recommended for roof attachment. The primary roof is FBC compliant but the secondary is unkown. How should it be filled out?
The secondary roof should be listed as “no information provided for compliance”
What does this mean?
IMO…
That is was attached according to Industry Standards at the time of construction.
Do you have a picture of the secondary roof
If you can’t see it, then it is also unknown. (F)
Roof Deck Attachment
: What is the weakest form of roof deck attachment?
Added with edit: If this is a wm for a client not partof ahome inspection and the client owns the home, have them remove a soffit vent or if necessary, cut a hole into the soffit to view the roof to wall attachment. You may also be able to view any missed nails for roof deck attachment.
The OP is asking about what to put on the wind mitigation form.
on the wind mitigation report, how do you fill out ,Roof Deck attachment and Roof to Wall… the primary roof is FBC compliant with pictures and permits, the secondary roof does not have permits and no way to see the connections. If I put Unknown that is only for the secondary and the new metal tile roof has no barrier. This is a new insurance company I am working with and want it right.
That appears to be a closed in screen room with a metal roof that has probably had styrofoam added then another roof covering over that, which has been coated with an elastameric coating. Generally, that type of roof is connected to the wall or fascia and not considered part of the “attached” roof structure. You need a view from the attic.
